Singapore’s national water agency, the Public Utilities Board (PUB), has extended its concession agreement with Keppel Infrastructure Trust (KIT) for the SingSpring Desalination Plant (SSDP) until 2028.

The SSDP, Singapore’s first major seawater desalination facility, began operations in 2005 under a 20‑year design, build, own, and operate model. Located in Tuas, the plant can supply up to 30 million gallons (136,380 cubic metres) of water per day.

PUB chief executive Ong Tze‑Ch’in highlighted the importance of desalination as Singapore’s “fourth national tap,” emphasising its reliability and role in strengthening the nation’s water security. He noted that the SSDP remains in excellent condition and that PUB looks forward to continuing its long-standing partnership with KIT.

KIT, through its trustee-manager Keppel Infrastructure Fund Management (KIFM), has renewed Keppel Ltd’s infrastructure division as the plant’s operations and maintenance (O&M) provider for the next three years. Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s infrastructure division, said the extension reflects PUB’s confidence in Keppel’s capabilities.

She added that Keppel’s technical expertise and extensive operational experience position it well to deliver long-term, value-added services that support the safe and efficient running of Singapore’s critical water infrastructure.

According to Keppel and KIT, the agreement is not expected to have any material impact on their net tangible assets per share or earnings for the current financial year.
