The Libyan Ministry of Housing and Construction recently signed two key memoranda of understanding in Tripoli, aligning with industry leaders to improve the nation’s water and infrastructure systems.

  • The first MoU with Saudi Arabia’s Amiantit Group focuses on comprehensive solutions for water transport, distribution networks, sewage systems, and rainwater drainage.
  • The second MoU, with PWT, Amiantit’s German subsidiary, specifically targets the introduction of advanced water treatment and desalination technologies, along with enhancements to sanitation systems and overall water infrastructure.

Minister Abubaker Ouidat highlighted that these partnerships emphasize technology transfer and building local capacity to support sustainable desalination, elevating Libya’s ability to diversify its water sources and secure reliable fresh water supplies for citizens.

This strategic focus on desalination marks a major step toward addressing Libya’s water scarcity challenges, advancing infrastructure resilience, and improving basic services nationwide.
