The Royal Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), in partnership with Beam Global, have deployed an innovative BeamWell™ off-grid desalination system at the Royal Medical Services facility in Zarqa. This move aims to strengthen Jordan’s resilience against water scarcity and provide critical resources in crisis zones.
The BeamWell™ system combines solar-powered desalination, energy generation, and e-mobility in a single, transportable unit. Key features include:
- Desalination capacity: Produces 3,000 liters of clean drinking water per day, converting seawater or brackish water into potable water.
- Energy independence: Operates entirely off-grid using solar power, supplying electricity for cooking, refrigeration of medical supplies, and communications.
- Rapid deployment: Designed for disaster or conflict zones where utilities are unavailable, ensuring immediate access to water and power.
- Integrated mobility: Charges electric mopeds for fast distribution of water, food, and medicine to remote or inaccessible areas.
Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley emphasized that the technology addresses three essential needs in humanitarian crises—clean water, reliable energy, and mobility—while supporting Jordan’s broader sustainability and security goals.
This deployment reflects a growing trend in the Middle East toward renewable-powered desalination solutions, reducing reliance on traditional water sources and mitigating the impacts of climate change and regional instability.
